Chief Operations Officer

Job summary
To assist the Chief Executive officer by managing and reporting on the day operations of the BNOC functions including member support, sport development, team services and corporate services.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in sports administration, business administration, strategy management or equivalent tertiary qualification.
• A postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage
• At least 8 years relevant post qualification experience at senior management level.
• Extensive knowledge of sports instruments used in Botswana as well as Government budgeting and accounting procedures would be an added advantage.
• A valid driver’s license.
Principal accountabilities
• Assist in the formulation of clear BNOC strategic plans and programmes for the promotion and development of elite sport in Botswana.
• Cascade the BNOC’S Strategy and related programmes to all levels of the organization (including members) and implements appropriate rewards/recognition and coaching/corrective
• Development operation/business plans in line with the BNOC strategy
• Implements institutional capacity development plans in alignment with the BNOC strategic intent and mandate;
• Institute necessary budgetary processes to ensure effective resource mobilization, allocation and monitoring;
• Assist in maintaining effective strategic relationships with key stakeholders
• Ensure efficient utilization of resources and organizes limited resources to the most productive utility with the aim of creating maximum value for the organization’s internal and external stakeholders
• Monitor and reports on organizational performance (including a consideration of efficiency versus effectiveness), often in the form of dashboards convenient for operational and strategic review;
• Manage and develops the department’s human capital ,instilling a high performance culture in order to achieve the BNOC’s strategic objectives; and
• Implement and ensures compliance with the Code of good corporate governance and other relevant instruments;
