Morupule Coal Mine is an underground fiery mine situated about 14 kilometers west of Palapye, Botswana along Serowe/Palapye road
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the following position:
Risk Management Coordinator
Job purpose & responsibilities
To coordinate the company’s risk management processes.
Key activities
• Formulates and monitors mine risk ad insurance budget
• Advise on the mine risk strategy and policy
• Interprets the mine’s strategy and policies on risk management, corporate governance requirements, draws up plans and programmes and coordinates implementation in alignment with group policies
• Provides technical input, guidance and assistance to the department risk co-ordinators at the mine ensuring that risk logs and annual assurance certification reports are completed as required
• Consolidates the mine wide risks into a company risk log
• Coordinates the external risk assurance provider’s programmes, activities.
• Ensures timely and adequate response on the audit findings and recommendations
• Provides input into the group insurance renewal process by gathering, analyzing and obtaining mine approval of the requisite data.
• Oversees the insurance claims process and thereafter ensure the successful resolution of the claims
• Works with the IFRS reporting specialist to ensure that successful are effective risk mitigators
• Co-ordinates the activities of external risk assurance providers
• Adheres to and promotes safety, health and environmental policies and procedures
Minimum education, training & experience requirements
• Degree in risk management/insurance/actuarial science or equivalent
• At least 3 years experience in a commercial risk management or related field
• Valid light duty drivers license
• Knowledge of SHE management systems (ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001)
• Experience in an underground mine will be an added advantage.
