The Botswana Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (BITRI) is a newly established technology research institute whose mandate is to undertake research. Identify and or develop appropriate technologies in line with national priorities and needs of Botswana. Executive Director, Natural Resources and Materials
Main purpose of the job:
• Lead, manage, direct,coordinate and supervise all research and development undertaken by BITRI in the area of environment , material and water.
• Create a conducive environment for the sector.
• Identify and manage resources for achieving set goals so as to meet required high quality standards.
• Promote and support cross-functional exchanges and operations with BITRI as well as other organizations.
• Drive organizational and cultural change in research.
• Ensure all policies, regulations and codes of ethics are cascaded down and adhered to in researched and development.
Education:
• A PhD IN Chemistry (synthesis or polymers) or related field.
• An additional professional qualification from a recognized institution or any other equivalent qualification acceptable to the Botswana institute for technology research and innovation (BITRI) will be of added advantage.
Experience and working knowledge:
• At least 15 years of research experience with proven knowledge in Environment, materials and water. The experience must include at least 5 years at a senior managerial/leadership level.
• Evidence of supervision of postgraduate students/researchers is essential
• Demonstrated publication record in international journals (past 5 years)
• Exposure to similar functions in a R& D environment would be an advantage.
Remuneration
BITRI offer attractive working conditions and remuneration commensurate with qualifications and experience. The above posts are for five years fixed term contracts.
