Junior Paediatric Gastroenteritis Study Nurse

Summary of the research and basic science research on topics that are relevant to Botswana-UPenn partnership: BUP’s research programme conducts clinical, translational and basic science research on topics that are relevant to Botswana.
Position purpose: to excel as a study nurse in pediatric clinical research studies conducted by principal investigators (PI), supervised by a programme research coordinator, principle investigator (PI) and /or research director. The main focus will be clinical and translational research. Ideal candidate will be detail oriented and have a strong interest in helping discover new knowledge to improve Botswana’s health system.
Key performance areas
• Conducts physical examinations and clinical interviews on potential research participants
• Collects biomedical and laboratory data
• Maintains accurate and complete data collection and clinical note records.
• Identifies adverse events and completes required adverse event reports in required time windows.
• Collects research specimens (example stool collection).
• Organizes meetings with PI and research team and communicates frequently & effectively with PI
• Participates in research results dissemination (through presentation)
Position requirements:
Qualifications: Nursing qualification
Experienced: at least 1 year experience working as a nurse in Botswana, fluent in Setswana and English
