The Legal Aid Botswana Project is an initiative of the Government of Botswana and UNDP to test the sustainability of a national legal aid programme for Botswana, the viability of certain service delivery methods and related matters. Parliament has enacted the Legal Aid Act to establish Legal Aid Botswana as an independent public entity, however the Act has yet been brought into operation, thus Legal Aid Botswana is still a Project. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following position in the Department of Attorney General’s Chambers in Legal Aid Botswana Unit. Appointment to this post will be on a short term contract of not more than twelve (12) months.

Senior Human Resource & Admin Officer (Gaborone X1)
Main purpose of the job:
To coordinate and execute the administrative, human resource management and financial management related functions.
To manage, coordinate and supervise the functions of human resource administration, finance and accounts, office operations and management unit.
Duties:
• Provides assistance and advice on human resource and administration issues to staff members
• Guide (where necessary) on human resource regulations and procedures implementation
• Interprets, implement and monitors compliance to the organization’s procedures and regulations
• Plans direct and coordinate the work of subordinate staff and provide administrative support in the legal aid Botswana Project.
• Attend to queries on wages, salaries and allowances.
• Authorizes payment vouchers for the unit
• Monitors expenditures of the approved budget
• Investigates staff problem and provides the necessary advice an guidance specific issues
• Supervises and monitors performance and quality of service provided by contractors/consultants
• Undertakes any other related tasks as required to meet the exigencies of the service
Qualifications:
• Degree in human resources management, public administration or related field
• Valid driver’s license
• Must be a citizen of Botswana
• Must be fluent in both written and spoken Setswana
Experience:
Candidates should have served for not less than ten (120) years in Human Resource Management and Public Administration field and two (2) years should have served in a more senior position

Salary scale: attractive salary which includes benefits (P220 200.00) per annum
Leave: 20 working days per annum
