Maun International Airport Improvements - New Air Traffic control tower and Technical Block Construction Works
The Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana (CAAB), a statutory body mandated to provide a safe, regular, secure and efficient use and development civil aviation in Botswana invites tenders from international and locally registered building and Engineering contractors for the Maun International Airport improvements-New Air Traffic control tower and technical Block construction works.

For companies domiciled in Botswana the following codes are applicable: Code 01 Building (sub-code 01 building construction; cub-code 05 high rise buildings); with domestic subcontractors registered with PPADB for relevant trades as follows code 02 Electrical (sub-codes 01general installations; 06 fire detection systems: 07 earthling and lighting protection; 09 security control systems; 10 lifts, hoist and escalators); code 03 civil engineering; (sub-code 10 infrastructure-macro); code 08 Mechanical Engineering (sub-codes 01 ac front discharge/split units; 02 central as systems; 03 ducting & ventilation systems; 06 low pressure hot water systems)

The relevant codes and sub-codes shown above should all be under grade E. Tenderers shall submit copies PPADB registration certificates and valid tax certificates with their tenders.

The works broadly comprise of the following: construction of the new air traffic control tower and technical blocks; external site works including carports, block paving footpaths and fencing; preparation and taking-overworks for special electronic system, co-ordinating with a separately appointed contractor for installation of ATC equipment and special electronic system; completion of project and hand-over to employer.

Tender documents may be collected as of 23 October 2013 from the manager procurement, CAAB head officer located at plot 61920 letsema office park, block B ground floor, fairgrounds, Gaborone during working hours as from 0800hrs to 1700hrs but not later than 6 November 2013. The tender documents may be obtained upon payment of a non-refundable fee of P 1000 (one thousand pula only).

Prospective tenderers shall note that the provision of the amendment to the citizen economic empowerment policy (CEEP) (reservation and price preference schemes) as articulated in PPADB Circular no 10 of 2013 shall apply to this tender.

One (1) original and two (2) copies of completed tender documents should be delivered to the management procurement, CAAB head office located at plot 61920 letsema office park, block B, ground floor, fairgrounds, Gaborone not later than1000hrs on 4 December 2013. The tender documents are to be submitted in sealed parcels (one original and two copies), clearly marked as `Maun airport improvements: new air traffic control tower & technical block construction works”. Tenders received or delivered after the above mentioned date and time will not accepted nor will any telexes, facsimile, electronic mail or telephonic submissions.

Each tender offer must be accompanied by a tender security of P50, 000.00 (fifty thousand pula only) in the form provided in the tender schedules included in the returnable documents.

A compulsory site visit will be held on 8 November 2013 at Maun international airport at 1000hrs followed by meeting in the airport management conference room, first floor, Maun international airport terminal building.

Tender shall be opened at 1030 hours on 4 December 2013 at CAAB head office at the above address in the presence of bidders or their representatives who choose to attend. Notwithstanding anything in the foregoing, CAAB is not bound to accept the lowest or any bid nor give reasons for acceptance/non-acceptance of any bid nor reimburse any expenses in preparation thereof.
