The Governments of the Republic of Botswana and the Republic of Zambia have received loans from Japan International Cooperation Agency and African Development Bank towards the cost of the Construction of Kazungula Bridge and Approach Ramps. It is intended that part of the proceeds of this loans will be applied to eligible payments under the contract resulting from bidding for which this pre-qualification is conducted. The Governments of the Republic of Botswana and the Republic of Zambia intends to pre-qualify contractors and/or firms for the construction of Kazungula Bridge and Approach Ramps - Package 1 which consists of: a. The bridge which is a curved 923m long pre-stressed concrete box girder with extra-dosed (hybrid between a box girder and a cable stayed bridge) main span of 129m. The span configuration of the bridge structure comprises of total 9 spans of (2 x 85m) + (5 x 129m main spans) + (2 x 54m), b. Railway at the center strip of the bridge (923m) extending 515m on the Botswana approach railway embankment and 733m on the Zambia approach railway embankment on the other end. Bridge Approach ramps are approximately 302m and 416m long on the Botswana and Zambia sides respectively. It is expected that the Invitation for Bids will he made in September 2013.
Pre-qualification will be conducted through procedures in accordance with the Guidelines for Procurement under Japanese ODA Loans and is open to all applicants from eligible source countries, as defined in the Loan Agreements.
A complete set of the Pre-qualification Documents may be purchased by interested applicants on the submission of a written application to the Chobe Land Board office, President Avenue, P.O. Box 1027, Kasane, Botswana and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of P1, 000.00 (Botswana Pula) in cash.
Interested eligible applicants may obtain further information from and inspection of the Pre-qualification Documents at the Kazungula Bridge Project office located at Chobe Land Board office, President Avenue, P.O. Box 1027, Kasane, Botswana after 8 July 2013 from 09:00 to 16:00.

Application for pre-qualification should be submitted in sealed envelopes, delivered to the Chobe Land Board office, President Avenue, P.O.
