Senior Underwriter
Report to:
Underwriting Manager
Purpose:
To underwrite and price commercial risks, within developed and agreed guidelines and reinsurance limits, terms and conditions;
To provide underwriting and technical support to junior underwriters,
• Responsible for binding Hollard on offered risks, within Hollard’s Reinsurance Treaty terms and conditions
• Understand and analyse risk in order to build sustainable portfolios
• Auditing of quotes leaving the division
• Drawing up and reporting of relevant Underwriting Financial Reports
• Reinsurance reports-maximum single exposures, accumulation exposures, risk spread profiles
• Creative product enhancements and flexible solutions to suit business units needs
• Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and intermediaries
• Mitigate Hollard’s exposure and ensure that risk to the company is eliminated or minimized.
• Ensure through the treaty reinsurance department appropriate reinsurance structures are put in place for the specific product being developed.

Qualifications & Experience:
• Relevant tertiary qualification (preferably in insurance or risk management)
• Insurance Qualification ( Associate) AIISA/ACII
• Minimum of 5 years ‘experience in Short Term Insurance Industry with a focus in underwriting and of commercial risks
