1.Vacancy: Manager (Procurement)

Salary: E2-(P306,-P319, 164 per annum)

Leave: 30 working days per annum

Benefits:

(a)Optional contributory medical aid scheme (government pays 50% and employee pays 50%)
(b)Contributory pension scheme (government 15% and employee 5%) for serving officers.

Qualification: bachelor’s degree in procurement supply chain management or business or any other related field.

Experience: applicants must have at least 12 years’ experience, 5 years of which must have been served at management position not lower than D1 in the public service or equivalent level in other employment sectors. Furthermore, the applicant should have served in a procurement-related environment for at least 5 years.

Scope of the job: to provide strategic leadership in the procurement of supplies, services and works as well as the disposal of assets for the ministry in a timely and efficient manner.

Key performance areas

1.Oversees and coordinates the utilizations of the ministry funds
2.Initiates the development and review of policy and strategy to enhance the effectiveness of the ministry in meeting government’ expectations concerning public procurement and asset disposal.
3.Plans and directs activities of the procurement unit.
4.Coordinates and oversees contract administration and preparation of end of activity report.
5.Coordinates and oversees development of procurement plan.
6.Supervises the procurement of all supplies, services and works needed by the ministry.
7.Liaise with relevant bodies to ensure a proactive management and development of the contractor base, including small and medium sized enterprise and other service providers.
8.Aligns /endorse contractor selection to procurement policy and strategy of government of Botswana and reviews the list of contractors based on their performance.
9.Identifies and sources suitable supplies, services and works and negotiates and agree prices in accordance with delegated authority.
10.Maintains awareness and knowledge of contemporary organizational development strategies and provides relevant interpretation and guidance to staff with a view to facilitate team work for effective service delivery.
11.Undertakes any other duties as may be directed by the office of the deputy permanent secretary and permanent.
