Job summary
The general manager reports to Debswana managing director and is responsible for leading the delivery of Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa mine’s (OLDM) strategic objectives, whilst giving effect to Debswana pursuit of zero harm. The general manager will be required to analyze, conceptualize and interpret the micro and macro environment and formulate short, medium and long term operational and strategic objectives that will ensure continuous sustainability of the organization and the attainment of OLDM and Debswana organizational objectives. The position requires an incumbent with strong technical, analytical and leadership abilities and a tack record of disciplined execution.

Minimum requirements
?Degree qualification in mining, geo-sciences, metallurgy, engineering or related disciplines.
?The individual must have a minimum of 12years relevant experience 3 of which must be at a senior management level

Certification (Legal Requirement)
?Registration with allied professional body

Pre-appointment training
?Appropriate managerial, financial and technical courses and development programme (EDP) or equivalent

Key effectiveness areas
?Responsible for the safety, health and environmental levels in areas of responsibility as well as ensuring adherence to the company’s SHE programme
?Reviews and renews strategic plan with EXCO as well as formulating strategies for the mine to meet the company’s medium and long and pursue new opportunities to achieve business goals
?Forecast the mine’s future manpower, financial and technical requirements and allocates appropriately. Reviews and regulates the commitment of resources within the mine to optimize the efficiency of operations and achievement of overall company goals and plans
?Promotes understanding and cooperation of various functions in achievement of overall company goals and plans
?Creates a version which inspires others to follow the strategic directions. Sets subordinate effectiveness areas and manages their development for the effective implementation of the succession plan. Creates an environment that encourages commitment and support
