Our client in grant making for forest conservation is looking to fill the following position:
Chief Executive Officer
Forest Conservation Botswana is a non profit making entity whose purpose activities designed to conserve, maintain and restore the forests of Botswana including world famous areas as the Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park region in accordance with the terms of the Tropical forest conservation agreement, the forest act and national forest policy. Forest conservation Botswana is in need of a chief executive officer to steer the organization into the next strategic level.
Overview:
The chief executive officer will provide leadership, managerial and technical direction for all aspects related to finance, administration and grant activities. The chief executive officer will liaise externally with the U.S. Department of state and report to the ministry of environment, wildlife and tourism on all such activities in line with FCB plans and required results. The candidate should have in-depth knowledge of and a proven track record in working with funders, CBO/NGO/FBO partners, host-country counterparts, and the ministry.
Required skills, experience and qualifications:
MSc in natural resource management or finance, environmental sciences or related fields, accounting and business management /administration.
Minimum 10 years’ experience of which at least 5 years should be at senior management level.
Sound knowledge and experience in environmental, ecology, forestry or conservation issues or knowledge in finance, accounting and business management.
Experience in raising funds from public and private sector sources, including foundations, businesses, government sources and individuals required
Significant experience in using creativity and innovation in driving change to achieve organizational transformation.
Preference will be given to an individual who exhibits academic qualifications and experience in natural resources/ environmental sciences and accounting and business management / administration
