Vacancy: Director E1 X1Post tenable at department of Technical and Vocational Education and Training –Gaborone
Applicants are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Director, Department of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in the Ministry of Education and Skills Development.

Salary: E1 (P336 525-P349 836 per annum)
Leave: 30 working days per annum
Benefits:
(i) Optional medical aid scheme with the BOTSWANA Public officer’s medical aid scheme (BPOMAS-Government pays 50% and employee pays 50%)
(ii) For new entrants to the public service, a contract of 24-36 months with gratuity payable at the rate of 25% upon the expiry of contract.
Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business administration or strategic management, complemented by sixteen years experience two of which should have been served at the level E2 salary scale as a Deputy Director, or its equivalence in the private sector or parastatal organization. A master’s degree in any of these fields will be an added advantage.

Main purpose of the job:
To lead the department of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in planning, coordinating and ensuring the implementation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training programmes in accordance with national manpower needs and the Ministry’s strategies.

A talented, proactive, self-driven and visionary leader is therefore sought to lead and direct the operations of this department.
Key performance areas:
• Provide leadership and direction to adherence of policies by developing strategies pertaining to technical and vocational education and training.
• Initiates and develops long, medium and short term plans and programmes of the Department
• Execute long, medium and short term plans and programmes at DTVET into practical activities.
• Coordinates the development of annual plans for the department.
• Represents the development in the University of Botswana advisory committee and Botswana Qualifications Authority boards
• Contributes in developing sound operational guidelines for the ministry nd ensures their implementation.
• Coordinates cascading of the annual strategic plan to divisions and colleges.
• Manages efficient and effective utilization of resources for the department.
• Coordinates the development and implementation of staff welfare programs in Technical institutions and human resource development and training needs
• Coordinate the preparation of estimates for development fund projects and distribution of funds to Technical Colleges and regional offices.
• Ensure hormones working relationship with all critical stakeholders
