Manager - Technical Services
Discovery Metals Limited (DML) or the company is a fast growing mining company, which is listed on the Botswana and Australian Stock Exchanges. DML holds an attractive portfolio of mineral assets and its management team has a strong track record of success in finding and developing minerals resources.
As we gear company for growth and success we would like you to join us in the role of manager-technical services. This role will be based at the Boseto Copper Mine with suitable housing and roster provided to the successful candidate.
The position
This is managerial position responsible for directing and controlling daily and long term activities within the technical services department as well as meeting the approved long term Boseto mining and business plan.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
• Ensure company mandated and legislated safety and environmental compliance for all mining related activities are adhered to
• Ensure the requirements of the Botswana mining and Quarrying safety health Act and regulations are implemented, monitored, complied and reported.
• Determine, formulate and direct technical services department policies and procedures consistent with company goals and objectives
• Coordinate activities with the mining and processing management to ensure continuous ore supply for optimum concentrator performance
• Analyse daily production and cost data to ensure the mine is operating within overall production and budget forecasts.
• Interact with operating and non-operating departments to develop long term operating goals and annual budgets.
• Organize and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports
• Ensure that the transfer of technology to employees and the promotion and support of employees training and development are maintained.
• Lead a technical team containing mining engineering, surveying and geology disciplines.
Qualification and Experience
• The successful candidates will have a degree in mining engineering or related field with a minimum of 10 years’ experience working within surface or underground mining.
• Experience in an ore modeling, pit optimization and design, ore reserves evolution, ore body reconciliation, geostatistical analysis is a requirement.
• The incumbent should also possess management experience in a remote location.
