The Botswana Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (BITRI) is a newly established technology research institute whose mandate is to undertake research, identify and or develop appropriate technologies in line with national priorities and needs of Botswana. If you want to be part of the emerging team that will change the technology research and innovation landscape in Botswana, BITR invites you to apply for the following positions:
Researcher, Climate Change and Society
Main purpose of the job:
• Analyze livelihoods data from both primary and secondary sources and write reports and policy briefs on vulnerability and adaptive capacity levels of various sectors and communities to climate change and extreme event.
• Conduct impact projections and develop targeting recommendations for research activities on social aspects of climate change and extreme events.
• Using value of information analysis, identify further research needs and important metrics for impact assessment
• Write policy briefs
• Develop research concept notes and proposals for seeking external research funding
Education:
• A PhD in Sociology or Rural Development is required.
Experience and working knowledge:
• At least 5 years experience in data analysis and policy formulation. Demonstrated working knowledge with livehoods data analysis and writing policy briefs and other policy documents.
Remuneration
BITRI offers attractive working conditions and remuneration commensurate with qualifications and experience. The above posts are for five years fixed term contracts.
