Post title: National Project Coordinator
Location: Maun Botswana

Summary of functions
UNDP is looking to recruit a dynamic individual (National project coordinator) to manage the implementation of project activities on a day-to day basis, provide technical direction to the initiative and ensure effective and efficient use of project funds towards the achievement of the defined goals and objectives by the end of the project. IN Addition to being the overall project manager, the National Project coordinator will be technically responsible for component 1 of the project (rangeland governance/management). The National Project Coordinator will be a locally recruited national selected based on an open competitive process. He/she will be responsible for the overall management of the project, including the mobilization of all project inputs, supervision over project staff, consultants and subcontractors. Under the direct supervision of the UNDP resident representative (or a duly designated UNDP officer), and in close consultation with the project steering committee (chaired by PS,MEWT or his. her designate), the National Project Coordinator will be responsible for the delivery of defined project outputs for meeting government obligations under the project, under the national execution modality (NEX). He/she will perform a liaison role with the Government, UNDP and other UN Agencies., NGOs and project partners, and maintain close collaboration with other donor agencies providing co financing.

Qualifications
• An advanced university degree (ms or PhD) in range ecology, sociology or any relevant social and environmental science discipline;
• At least 7 years of experience in natural resource management, water resources management, range ecology/management, land-use planning or a related field;
• At least 5 years of project/programme management experience.
• Ability to effectively coordinate a large, multi-stakeholder project;
• Ability to administer budget, train and work effectively with counterpart staff at all levels and with all groups involved in the project;
• Strong drafting, presentation and reporting skills
• Strong drafting, presentation and reporting skills,
• Strong computer skills, in particular mastery of all applications of the MS Office package and internet search,
• A good working knowledge of English is a requirement.
