Flight Safety and Quality Manager
Purpose:
To provide guidance and direction for the planning, implementation and operation of Air Botswana’s Safety Management system (SMS). The SMS is designed to ensure the safe operation of an Air Botswana flight Botswana flight whether it is carrying cargo or passengers r any mix thereof. To ensure that there is adequate oversight on all operations conduced and that they are in accordance with conditions and restrictions of the Air Operator Certificate (AOC), and in compliance with all applicable regulations and standards of Air Botswana.

General Responsibilities
The Flight Safety and Quality manager duties include gathering all available information that might occur in the aviation industry that may have some effect on the company operations. He/she will endeavor to obtain and circulate any leaflets or reports on incidents and accidents that may be published. He/she brings to the attention of the appropriate manager any occurrence, complaint or recommendations that might involve his department. He /she will be responsible for the Flight data analysis of all Air Botswana fleet.

Key performance Areas
1. Flight safety programme.
2. Manages safety management system (SMS) for all flight operations.
3. Manage the company’s flight data (FDM) System
4. Guidelines and resource for safety oversight.
5. Advisory and information services on flight safety issues
6. Investigation of accidents, incidents and hazards
7. Production of operational manuals and related documentation and reference manuals.
8. Safety assurance and emergency response programs.
9. Monitoring of service level Agreements within flight operations
10. Responsible for Air Botswana safety management system
11. Responsible for investigating any hazards which may constitute a danger to an Air Botswana flight, infrastructure, staff members, third part service providers or customers.
12. Responsible for managing Air Botswana’s exposure to operational risk
Requirements
Relevant tertiary qualifications in any science related field is required.
The successful candidate will be an IOSA Trained Auditor and must hold or have held a pilot license preferably an ATPL or a licensed Aircraft Engineer with experience in Flight Operations environment for at least 5 years

Membership to relevant professional body would be an advantage
A minimum of 8 years professional experience which includes 5 years in an airline flight safety environment and 3 years at Management level, experience in aircraft accident investigation, safety environment is required.
IOSA training and consideration exposure to IOSA certification process are necessary attributes.
