Mupane gold mining (Pty) Ltd (MGM) is a 100% owned subsidiary of the Canadian TSX Venture and Botswana Exchange listed company Galane Gold LTD, a gold producer and explorer with its operations in the Republic of Botswana.
The Mupane gold mine is located approximately 50 kilometers by road from Francistown in north eastern Botswana. In continuous operation since 2005, MGM is in the process of increasing the operational life of mine with intensive exploration activities, that are currently on-going, to purse further opportunities to develop additional resources.
The company invites applications for the following position;-
Metallurgical and Process Engineering Manager
Reporting to the general manager, the incumbent will oversee the metallurgical and engineering performance of the processing plant, laboratory and tailings dam, in terms of operating efficiency and recovery. The successful candidate will also have skills knowledge to improve and maintain performance in terms of safety, production results and processing engineering or chemical engineering is required, and at least 15 years’ experience in gold processing operations which include crushing, grinding, CIL, Thickening, Elution, Gold Room and Tailing dam management.
Key duties and responsibilities
The key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Safe operation of the processing plant, laboratory and tailings dam
- Supervise and mentor the process manager and engineering manager as well as the laboratory manager
- Supervise, co-ordinate and control all metallurgical research operations
- Supervise gold room staff operations and control of the gold accounting and dispatch.
- Provide technical guidance to operational personnel
- Optimize metallurgical performance
- Ensure that metallurgical records are maintained in the plant and gold room
- Plan and enforce process plant technical training
- Plan manning levels to meet processing requirements
- Allocate and supervise technical research projects
- Assist with the preparation of the mine budget
- Review reports, calculations and practices in related fields to improve performance
- Liaise with processing and engineering staff to maintain a healthy working relationship
- Ensure safety guidelines are adhered to perform public relations functions when required
- Act for the general manager if required
Possession of the following will be an added advantage:
- Experience with refractory ore bodies
- Experience in process design and engineering cyanide detoxification plant
- Heap leach technology
- Screening of LG stockpile
