Principal Public Relations Officer II

Circular No: 34 of2013
Applications are invited from suitably qualified citizens for the above position in the ministry of health, corporate services.
Salary: D3 (P182, 784-P201, 792) per annum
Benefits: A. Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% Employee 50%) B. Contributory Pension Fund Scheme (Government pays 15% Employee 5% of the basic salary)
Leave: 30 working days per annum.
Qualifications: Degree in Public relations and communication or equivalent
Experience: At least 8 years relevant post qualification experience of which two (2) years should have been served as Senior Public Relations Officer.
Main purpose of the job: To promoter and maintain the Ministry’s corporate image and good relations with the public by developing and managing the ministry‘s public relations, customer services and communication strategy.
Key performance areas
1. Provides professional leadership of the section
2. Coordinates the development of the ministry’s newsletter
3. Prepares press release and statements highlighting positive developments in the ministry.
4. Coordinates the development of annual performance plan for the section in line with the division’s strategic plan.
5. Determines finance and manpower budget estimates for the section
6. Coordinates media relations activities
7. Arranges media briefing for the ministry in response to particular subjects and produces press releases.
8. Analysis news reports to identify major incidents /activities affecting the ministry and gives advice as appropriate.
9. Investigate and resolve customer enquiries and complaints equitably and timely.
10. Act as a link between the ministry, the media and other organizations and special interest groups to build and maintain rapport.
11. Creates and maintains a positive image of the ministry by maintaining a fully documented and accessible body of information.
