Principal Health Officer I (Alcohol and Substance Abuse) KI03BB
Vacancy circular no.33 of 2013
Applications are invited from suitably qualified citizens for the above vacancy in the Department of Public Health, Ministry of Health.

Salary: D2 (P210, 180-P232,056) per annum
Benefits: A. Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% Employee 50%) B. Contributory Pension Fund Scheme (Government pays 15% Employee 5% of the basic salary)
Leave: 30 working days per annum.
Qualifications: Candidates should have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Nursing, Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Health Education, Public Health or equivalent.
Experience: At least 10 years post qualification experience, 2 years of which should have been working as Principal Health Officer II or equivalent.
Main purpose of the job:
To coordinate the effective implementations of activities in a specific health programme
Key performance areas
1. Facilitates interaction and effective communication and coordination of activities between hospital and DHMTs.
2. Coordinate compliance to Public Health standards and regulations
3. Communicates effectively to ensure that objectives, procedures and protocols of the program are adhered to.
4. Coordinates capacity building initiatives
5. Coordinates and conducts operational research studies on public health issues
6. Coordinates pre and in-service training on Public Health staff and support staff
7. Coordinates the development, implementation and monitoring of policy issues of a given area of operation
8. Provides leadership and guidance in the formation, and implementation of divisional plans and strategies
9. Develop monitoring & evaluation of programmes
10. Coordinate the preparation of expenditure reports.
