Chief Health Officer - Health Informatics
Vacancy circular no: 32 of 2013
Applications are invited from suitably qualified citizens for the above position in the Ministry of Health, Department of Health Policy Development, Monitoring and Evaluation tenable in the Ministry Headquarters.
Salary: D1 (P241, 704-P266,844) per annum
Benefits: A. Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% Employee 50%) B. Contributory Pension Fund Scheme (Government pays 15% Employee 5% of the basic salary)
Leave: 30 working days per annum.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Health Informatics, Health Information Management or related field. A Masters Degree will be added advantage.
Experience: At least eight (8) years experience in the related field in Government or Parastatal/Private Sector.
Main purpose of the job: To coordinate and regulate the various technical and administrative health informatics activities geared at improving efficiency, production, management, use and sharing of health information by all stakeholders.
Key performance areas
1. Works closely with institutions that provide health care services at different levels
2. Harmonizes, optimize and designs electronic health information systems and data collection tools that will be used within the health sector.
3. Reviews and maintains current applications that are used to capture health data that are used in providing appropriate indicators such as the data ware house.
4. Appraisers and recommends appropriate applications for use within the health sector.
5. Develops and maintains application system for the generation of health information and reports.
6. Develops health informatics policies and guidelines
