Combination Prevention Coordinator
The international Training and Education Centre for Health ( I-TECH) , www.go2itech.org ,based at the University of Washington was established in 2002 by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). I-TECH has been working in Botswana since 2004 in partnership with US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Global AIDS Program ( CDC-Botswana), the Botswana Ministry of Health ( MOH) , the ministry of local Government (MLG), and the University of Botswana (UB) , to build capacity for addressing Botswana’s HIV/AIDS epidemic.

A job opportunity of Combination prevention Coordinator has arisen within I-TECH Botswana, the role will be based in Gaborone on secondment basis to the Ministry of Health.

General roles and responsibilities include:
• Overseeing the activities of the combination prevention project (CPP) and will work closely and in collaboration with the CDC combination prevention staff and partners and will specifically be responsible for planning coordination, implementation and monitoring of the enhanced services.
• Strategic and technical leadership by establishing strong working relationships with CDC and partners
• Participate in technical working groups focusing o protocol development, intervention implementation costing, and monitoring and evaluation.
• Appropriately represent MOH interests with partners, and serve as key liaison between MOH, CDC, research partners and program implementation partners.
• Ensuring MOH-LED CPP services are sufficient, and coordinating other service delivery partner efforts with partners.
• Coordinate linkages between partners and MOH staff in the monitoring and evaluation of activities related to the CPP.
• Document policies and agreements between key stakeholders agencies regarding CPP implementation and evaluation activities
• Coordinates and ensure that accurate and complete program monitoring and evaluation data are collected in a timely fashion at the intervention sites.
• Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Required qualifications, skills and attributes;
• Doctoral or Masters degree in Public Health ( MPH,PhD,DRPH) or equivalent required; additional training in clinical medicine (nurse or physician )desired.
• 5-8 years work experience in managing and coordinating public health programs, experience in HIV prevention, care and treatment program activities implemented by the Government of Botswana is desired
• Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability in building human capacity
• Research background with excellent knowledge of epidemiological,
• statistical, and research methods involvement in peer reviewed research publications desired
• Excellent problem-solving decision making communication and organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively in a high pressure and demanding environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, flexibility, diplomacy, cultural competence and an ability to work and engage with people of diverse backgrounds
• Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
• Demonstrated capacity in advocacy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, good listening skills, and close attention to detail.
• Excellent computer skills including MS Office, PowerPoint ,Excel
• Citizen of Botswana, with proficiency in Setswana desired.
• Must be prepared to travel extensively within Botswana
