Vacancy: Deputy Government Attorney (F2)
REF: AAT 2/5/4 VI
Salary scale: F2 (P398, 8O8) per annum
Leave: 30 Working days per annum
Benefits: optional contributory medical aid scheme. Government pays 50% employee 50%.contributory pension fund (government pays 15% employee pays 5%).
For direct entrants, employment will be on a twenty –four (24) to thirty six (36) months contract.
Robe allowance: P2 283.60 per annum
Scarce allowance: 35% of basic salary
Qualifications: must have bachelor of laws.
Experience: At least fourteen (140 years or two years at the level of assistant government attorney

The primary purpose of the job: to litigate on behalf of the government in very complex matters and cases of national importance with spiraling effect. To provide legal advice in complex matters and oversee either defence or claims team.
Key performance areas:
The officer at this level is held accountable for the following principal outcomes:
• provision of quality legal advice
• Sustainably litigating on behalf of the government.
• Promoting the rule of law in decision making
• Managing human and financial resources.
Core duties
The officer at this level performs the following core duties:
(i) Undertakes litigation on behalf of government ministries and departments
(ii) Preparation of legal documents
(iii) Vets claims and settlements from junior officers
(iv) Facilitates the case process by holding meetings
(v) Prepares heads of argument
(vi) Costs recovery
